Discover the Power of Social Science: Tornado Aftermath Through a Fresh Lens

What happens when disaster strikes—and how do we make sense of it? Join us for an interactive event designed for future changemakers like you. Hosted by the College of Arts & Sciences at UMSL, this immersive experience will explore the real-world impact of the May 16th tornado that hit St. Louis, through the eyes of criminologists, economists, political scientists, and sociologists.

In a fast-paced, multimedia format, faculty experts will break down the event from four different angles, revealing how social science helps us understand crisis, recovery, and resilience in our communities. Then it’s your turn: you’ll join small-group discussions led by current students to tackle a compelling, big-picture question that ties it all together.

Bring your curiosity, your perspective, and your voice. Together, we’ll connect the dots between people, policy, power, and place and discover how each discipline offers a unique lens on the world we live in.

Wrap up the day with pizza, conversation, and new connections with fellow prospective students and faculty.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
